Running The Milton Keynes Marathon in memory of my little bro

As many of you reading this will know my younger brother Ben passed away in October of 2022 after being diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma, whereby a plexiform neurofibroma (a tumour connected to his genetic condition NF1) turned malignant.

Last year myself and a group of Ben’s oldest friends came together to run The Milton Keynes Marathon in memory of Ben and raise money and awareness for a handful of cancer charities.

This year I wanted to challenge myself to run the marathon again to honour my brother’s memory and hopefully raise a little bit of money, this time for Nerve Tumours UK which helps to support those living with neurofibromatosis as well as research into lesser known effects of having the disease.

Ultimately I hope to spread awareness of NF and help support those people living with it, just like Ben.

INFER (International NF Educational Resources) is a series of online educational lectures for medical professionals by leading neurofibromatosis experts. The Masterclasses take place online approximately once a month, each on a different topic, and include real-time interaction between the expert presenter and the participants. The presentations are conducted in English, with real-time audio interpretation available in 6 additional languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A recording of each INFER masterclass is then be made available online in each language for those who could not attend an event.
