10 mile for Lily

We are a nursery team and we are doing a sponsored 10 mile walk for Lily who is 2 years of age she was diagnosed with NF1 (Neurofibromatosis Type 1) at the end of last year. NF is a genetic condition that causes tumours to grow on nerves anywhere in the body. Its effects vary greatly from person to person—some may experience only mild symptoms, while others face more complex challenges.

Some of the possible symptoms include:
🦒 Café-au-lait spots (milky brown birthmark-like patches)
✨ Tumour growth on nerves
👁 Vision problems (such as optic pathway gliomas)
🧠 Learning difficulties
🦴 Skeletal abnormalities

Lily faces several challenges with her NF1. Currently Lily has her leg in a splint (to protect her skeletal abnormalities) and her droopy eyelid (caused by a tumour behind her eye) to name just a few. But despite it all, she’s still her joyful, confident, and wonderfully feral 2-year-old self!

Sunday the 20th July 2025 we will take on this walk to support Lily and others who have the same condition as Lily.

INFER (International NF Educational Resources) is a series of online educational lectures for medical professionals by leading neurofibromatosis experts. The Masterclasses take place online approximately once a month, each on a different topic, and include real-time interaction between the expert presenter and the participants. The presentations are conducted in English, with real-time audio interpretation available in 6 additional languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A recording of each INFER masterclass is then be made available online in each language for those who could not attend an event.
