Working for the nerve tumours community

Nerve Tumours UK provides support and information, as well as campaigns and raises awareness on behalf of over 26,500 people in the UK who have NF, the group name for Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), NF2-related-Schwannomatosis (NF2) and Schwannomatosis (SWN). We’re here to improve lives for people with NF, by making sure they have access to the help they require.  

The work we do

Our Helpline is open on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9am to 5pm on 07939 046030. 

On the other days of the week, the head office team can be contacted from 9am to 5pm on 0208 439 1234.

Outside of these hours, and if you think it is an emergency, please contact your GP, or go to your nearest A&E Department.

What is NF1?

About 25,000 people in the UK have NF1, a genetic condition that causes nerve tumours to grow where they shouldn't.

NF2 is a rare genetic disorder that is present at birth, though signs do not usually appear until the teens or twenties.

INFER (International NF Educational Resources) is a series of online educational lectures for medical professionals by leading neurofibromatosis experts. The Masterclasses take place online approximately once a month, each on a different topic, and include real-time interaction between the expert presenter and the participants. The presentations are conducted in English, with real-time audio interpretation available in 6 additional languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A recording of each INFER masterclass is then be made available online in each language for those who could not attend an event.
