Specialist Neurofibromatosis Nurse – Wales
AFC Band 7
Salary Scale: £37,570 to £43,772 per annum pro rata
Hours: Part Time 15 hours per week
Due to additional funding Nerve Tumours UK have an exciting opportunity for a part time Specialist Neurofibromatosis Nurse in Wales. We are looking for a caring specialist nurse, ideally with experience of Neurofibromatosis 1 and/or 2, to work with individuals affected by these conditions in Wales. The role is focused on providing support, information and advice for individuals and families with (or at risk of) neurofibromatosis. This will include appointments with children and adults both in the community and in specialist multi-disciplinary clinics. The post holder will work closely with the consultant clinical geneticists specialising in these conditions.
The post will be based at University Hospital of Wales, but appointments will take place in a combination of clinic venues, schools and patients’ homes and flexibility to travel to these will be a vital part of the role.
The ideal candidate would have experience working with individuals with Neurofibromatosis, knowledge of the genetic basis of the conditions and experience of working with families. Counselling training and/or experience would be an advantage.
Access to a car insured for business use and a full driving licence are essential as travel is an important part of the role. The post is currently for 15 hours per week but there may be possibility for additional hours in future.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The charity, which is the authoritative voice of Neurofibromatosis in the UK, funds a team of Specialist Advisors (medical professionals) and a helpline to support children, adults and their families.
