Kate Morgan's fundraising page

Esme was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis type 1 when she was just 6 months old.

NF1 is a common genetic condition that causes nerve tumours to grow where they shouldn’t. The “spelling mistake” in the gene is found on chromosome 17 and occurs in 1 in 2,500 of the population. There are approximately 25,000 people in the UK diagnosed with NF1.( Taken from Nerve tumours UK)

NF1 varies widely in how it affects those who have the condition. Many people with the disorder will be affected very mildly and may have nothing more than skin changes. A minority of people (around a third) who have NF1 will have medical problems related to the disorder at some time in their life. Some of these problems will be mild and easily treatable and others will be more severe.( Nerve tumours UK)

Esme and her Mum both live with the condition, and as a team would love to raise awareness and support for the condition.

Esme has just turned 3 and loves being outside so she has decided to set her family and friends a challenge of sliding down as many slides as they can during the 6 weeks of the summer holidays.

We are encouraging people to visit parks, use your gardens and even build your own to reach your target.

Each family will have their own target and we hope that this page will bring them altogether.

Our aim is to make this as accessible as possible to ensure everyone can join in.

Our personal target is 100 different slides between July the 18th and September 1st 2021.

Please support Esme in her first ever fundraiser to raise money for Nerve tumours UK, who are instrumental in the research and support for those living with the condition and their families.

If you are taking part we would love you to use the #esmessummerofslides on social media.

Thank you and happy sliding.
