Esme and Mum both live with condition Neurofibromatosis Type 1.
‘NF1 is a common genetic condition that causes nerve tumours to grow where they shouldn’t. The “spelling mistake” in the gene is found on chromosome 17 and occurs in 1 in 2,500 of the population. There are approximately 25,000 people in the UK diagnosed with NF1. Nerve Tumours UK is here to help.
NF1 varies widely in how it affects those who have the condition. Many people with the disorder will be affected very mildly and may have nothing more than skin changes. A minority of people (around a third) who have NF1 will have medical problems related to the disorder at some time in their life. Some of these problems will be mild and easily treatable and others will be more severe.
Esme and Mum aim to raise as much awareness of NF1 as possible, and at the same time raise money to support Nervetumours in all of the great work they do.
Along with her family and friends, this year Esme arranged a pop up shop . We invited local stall holder along and held an epic raffle. It was a huge success and raised over £700 on the day. With many people not being able to make it on the day but still wanting to donate. We decided to set up this page to allow family and friends to donate easily.
Help us collectively get to £1000.
Thank You for your continued support.
