Polly's Story (as told by Mum Emily)
My name is Emily,
I am Polly’s Mum. My two brothers and I all have Neurofibromatosis type 1. When Polly was born, she didn't have any classic signs of the condition, but when she was just 15months old her right eye began to push out and turn, therefore she was scanned and diagnosed with an optic pathway glioma (a brain tumour associated with NF1). This led to doctors carrying out genetic tests which confirmed that she did indeed have NF1.
Due to her condition, Polly started chemotherapy and now at the age of 3 she is on chemo every week.
She is a strong, brave, and beautiful little lady. Always very happy and full of life, she loves her family, enjoys school and is a huge fan of Peppa pig.
– Emily"We are all incredibly proud of her and we love her so much. She is a true hero, constantly making us all laugh and smile every day. "
Despite being on weekly chemotherapy she is a happy child and never fails to inspire us all. She is such a star! Polly is now starting to get cafe au lait spots and freckles but is still as gorgeous as ever.
We love you super Polly! 😊 xx
