Visible Differences: Changing The Narrative
03 February 2025

Nerve Tumours UK recently had the privilege of taking part in an inspiring day of workshops and talks organised and facilitated by the VTCT Foundation. The event brought together key organisations from the visible difference community, strengthening the community's ability to better platform the challenges faced by those living with a visible difference.
In listening to community advocates, we registered the importance of authenticity and fearlessness when creating campaigns to educate and engage the wider public on issues of visible difference.
It was also a special opportunity to reconnect with some familiar faces, and learn from the progress achieved by our partner organisations. A notable example being the work of 'Changing Faces', a charity we work closely with in challenging and changing public perceptions around visible difference. Being able to revisit their most recent community collaborations was hugely inspiring, a particular highlight being their ‘I am not your Villain’ campaign, featuring award winning actor and NF activist Adam Pearson.
We are extremely grateful to the VTCT Foundation for organising such an impactful event, and for bringing together such a diverse range of voices from The Difference Community.
As we continue to build on these conversations, Nerve Tumours UK remains dedicated to enhancing our support services, raising awareness, and ensuring that all individuals with NF and a visible difference continue to feel seen, heard and empowered.
