Specialist NF Support Network
Clare Dhillon
I am a paediatric nurse with experience working on the medical ward at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
I then trained to become a health visitor, working in the community and developing links within the local area. From here, I decided to become a specialist nurse and moved to working with patients with ADHD, supporting them and reviewing their needs, both at home and at school.
I now work as a Specialist Neurofibromatosis Nurse at Ryegate Children’s Centre and support patients and families within the local area. I offer ongoing support to families that are affected by NF and undertake home visits, as well as liaising with schools and other professionals in the community to achieve the best outcomes for my patients.
Since I started in 2020, I have met many families that have been affected, some who are very familiar with the condition and others who are new to the diagnosis. It has been amazing to see how families have adapted to NF and how resilient they are in managing the challenges they sometimes have to face. I am growing into my new role as an NF Nurse and with the support of my colleagues at Sheffield Children’s Hospital & Nerve Tumours UK.
– Clare"I hope to continue to offer a service to the children & families who I feel privileged to work with and for."
