Charm qualified as a Registered Adult Nurse in 2013. She is our newest member of the team - joining the Charity as a NF Clinical Nurse Specialist in January 2023. Charm started her nursing journey on a respiratory ward at GSTT. She then went on to a Stroke and Neuro rehabilitation Ward within the Trust. As a student nurse, she thoroughly enjoyed her placement with the Dermatology department in the minor surgery unit.
Prior to joining the NF team she was a Senior Staff Nurse on the Older Persons Assessment Unit at GSTT. It was at this ward where her previous experience allowed her to amalgamate caring for patients clinically and pastorally. Charm has a passion for equality and diversity with positive well-being and patient education being at the forefront of her practice, promoting awareness and guidance to successfully manage long term conditions.
I am quite an enthusiastic, family oriented person and enjoy taking part in fun activities with my friends & family. I enjoy watching all sports - particularly football, athletics, tennis, swimming, and boxing. I also really enjoy playing football. I go to the gym a few times a week and hope to build up my endurance to enable me to take part in a marathon at some point in life. I would say I’m quite a likeable person and easy to get along with.
Growing up we moved home a lot although it didn’t take me long to settle in to new schools. I was quite popular in school for my abilities to compete with the boys at football. I do wonder sometimes if women’s football had the recognition it does nowadays if my career choice would’ve taken a different path.
Having said that, I’ve always been the most attentive, caring and understanding sibling so my family would most likely say nursing is my calling, and I would agree. I thoroughly enjoy being a nurse, I love the fact you never stop learning and in this new role as Specialist NF Nurse I’m learning something new by the day!
To relax I love to travel (to hot countries mainly) or get massages and I take the opportunity to do so whenever time allows. My father being from Barbados, mother 1/2 British 1/2 Grenadian, I am very proud of my Caribbean culture. The Notting Hill Carnival has become a traditional way to celebrate this here in the UK.
Charm is based at Guys and St Thomas’ (GSTT) in London, looking after patients in Greater London & within the M25.
