Having qualified at Oxford as a Registered General Nurse in 1984, Lynne now brings her expertise to our National Helpline team.
'Throughout my clinical experience I have nursed & supported both children and adults within a diverse range of illnesses, community care, both prep/ senior school environments & research posts. I worked as a trustee on an ethics committee with pharmaceutical companies into research genetics & medical intervention which was very fulfilling. My career has taken me into the sporting world as a sports injuries medic with the English Rugby Union along with being a Senior Practice Nurse in a GP setting. During Covid I helped co-ordinate the vaccination programme both in a centre & wider community for 18 months.
Following my qualification as a School Nurse, I worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis for 5 years, before taking on a Senior Nurse Lead role at a day prep school of 450 pupils, where I served for 16 years.
I enjoy the outdoors with walking, running & gardening along with 'grandparent duties' of three adorable boys. I have been volunteering for many years for various charities & help raise much needed funds. For over 20 years I have been a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind & volunteered for many local charities which culminated in me being awarded a BEM from the late Queen in 2022.
I have a particular interest & passion for NF as my youngest daughter has NF1. This has given me a greater understanding on its impact within the family unit.
Nerve Tumours UK is a vital lifeline to many in the NF community & wider. Having easy access to chat with a specialist nurse who understands NF is paramount & gives much needed support. This service was not available when our daughter was diagnosed so being part of the Helpline today is one I can truly embrace as a parent & Clinical Nurse specialist.'
If you’d like advice, support, or information about anything NF-related, you can chat with Lynne or another member of our team via our Helpline on 07939 046 030 (Mon, Wed & Fri, 9AM–5PM).
