Juliette Buttimore – NF2 & Skull Base Nurse Consultant
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Juliette Buttimore is a Nurse Consultant specialising in NF2-related schwannomatosis and skull base conditions. She qualified in nursing in Cambridge in 2005 and began her career at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, working across gynaecology, plastic surgery, and inpatient care. In 2010, she joined the Cambridge Skull Base Unit, where she became part of the NHS England Highly Specialised Service for NF2-related schwannomatosis, supporting patients with complex skull base disorders and rare disease.
Juliette’s passion lies in improving the lives of people affected by rare conditions. Her Master’s degree focused on quality of life for those diagnosed with vestibular schwannoma, and she has completed additional training in Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Since 2020, she has worked as Clinical Lead for the NF2- related schwannomatosis service for the East of England and Midlands, helping to shape nurse-led services and championing collaborative, multidisciplinary care.
She is actively involved in research, including projects on personalised patient information, radiotherapy and bevacizumab outcomes in NF2, and understanding differences in clinical presentations of the condition. Juliette is particularly committed to patient advocacy—ensuring that lived experiences are heard and that care is compassionate, inclusive, and accessible. Her current work explores how patients emotionally prepare for medical interventions, especially in the context of NF2 and lifelong conditions.
Juliette is a strong advocate for equality in healthcare access, especially for individuals with hearing loss, sight loss, or dual sensory impairment. She believes in leading by example and works closely with teams across the region to improve the patient journey and to ensure every voice is heard.
